Zambia U20 off to South Korea Four Nations tourney

Zambia U-20 men’s national football team is this afternoon scheduled to depart for South Korea where it will participate in the “Four Nations Invitational Tournament” from 24th to 31st March.

The squad flies out of Lusaka aboard Ethiopian Airlines at 15h30.

2017 FIFA U20 World Cup hosts South Korea (U20 WC Group A) have invited qualified teams Zambia (Group C), Honduras (Group E) and Ecuador (Group F) to participate in the mini tournament which will serve as the precursor to the global youth competition.

Assistant coach Bilton Musonda told that Zambia will use the four Nations tournament to warm up for the World Cup because all participants had also qualified.

“The Korea outing is very important; to us it is a blessing in disguise to go to Korea before the World Cup, the main event,” said Musonda.

“We are playing the teams who are also qualified to the World Cup so it is just like the World Cup before the World Cup.”

Zambia’s travelling party is without Patson Daka (FC Liefering), Mumba Mwape (Getafe), Fashion Sakala (Spartak Moscow) and Lusaka Dynamos striker Conlyde Luchanga.

Their places on the squad have been taken by Stephen Chulu (Kabwe Warriors), Happy Nsofwa (Mufulira Police), Musonda Siame (Kafue Celtic) and Joseph Phiri (Red Arrows).
