EYES ON THE BALL - Thursday, January 08, 2009
Upon assuming the mantle of headship of Football House, legendary soccer great Kalusha Bwalya coined a functioning maxim to be the guiding light of what will define the work of the Football Association of Zambia, set benchmarks that should define the successful Zambian soccer road map in order for the Chipolopolo to succeed and enjoy prosperity on and off the field. That success should in turn position the Chipolopolo as a leading football nation in Africa and a global powerhouse.

Eyes on the Ball is a clear-cut and catchy maxim that simplifies the FAZ vision of taking Zambian Football into a new dawn and reigniting the passion of each and every Zambian for their National Teams. It is one which taps into the mission Kalusha and the Executive Committee have adopted as they undertake to restore to its former glory the great soccer heritage the country has.

In his acceptance speech March 2008 at the historical Mulungushi International Conference Centre in Lusaka, Kalusha pledged his commitment to working tirelessly with his team to taking Zambian football. That hard work, the Great Kalu said could only be possible with all stakeholders working together as a team - from the Executive Committee, Football House., entire football family, the fans and all football lovers because football belonged to all Zambians.

With all stakeholders firmly keeping their “Eyes on the Ball”, Zambian football is set to go to a higher level so desperately desired by the passionate soccer family.

"I am committed to upholding the highest levels of professionalism and attain levels of distinction for Zambian Football. Together, we will take Zambian Football into a new dawn both on an off the field; Nationally, Continentally and Globally. Through FAZ and its members we will endeavour to galvanise the Nation, by reigniting the passion of each and every Zambian for their National Teams.

We will strive to attain the highest standard of football, through sustained development, key partnerships and International exposure.

Zambian Football needs to become a Continental powerhouse and reclaim its rightful place in African Football once again.

Our greatest asset is our soccer heritage, this we must undertake to restore to its former glory. Through one sustained unified vision we will aim at enhancing the image of Zambian Football with every action we undertake.

Through development at grassroots we will aim to fully develop the untapped potential and natural football resource Our Nation has to offer.

Thank you and thank everyone who made this possible.
