Football Association of Zambia (FAZ) President and Sports Minister Kenneth Chipungu have hailed what they both described as a new era of Zambia’s football dominance of continental soccer.
Kalusha said it was great Bonetti started his campaign for 2012 with a collection of maximum points; a result the Sports Minister hailed as the start of a new era of winning and Zambia domination.
The duo were speaking to journalists after watching the Zambia national soccer team get off to a flying start in the 2012 Orange Africa Cup of nations qualifiers; thrashing the Comoros 4-0 with a fantastic display of football.
Said Kalusha: “We’re pleased to win the match and get the three points. This is from where we will build on as we go for the finals in Gabon and Equatorial Guinea and from there build on for the next championship and the 2014 Fifa World Cup finals.”
“The team has set a very good impression in their first competition game under a new coach. The team played very well and they deserved to win. We have a new coach, new results and new everything,” said Chipungu.
Kalusha also hailed all fans and supporters for their wonderful support and congratulated them for being exemplary in their conduct throughout the weekend.
Goals from Rainford Kalaba, Fwayo Tembo, James Chamanga and Emmanuel Mayuka gave Zambia victory and top spot in Group C ahead of Libya and Mozambique who drew 0-0 in Maputo. Comoros are bottom with no point.
Zambia’s next qualifier match is on October 10 away to Libya. Comoros play Mozambique.
