The Football Association of Zambia (FAZ) says it is monitoring the reported in jury of top striker Jacob Mulenga of Dutch Europa League envoys FC Utrecht.

FC Utrecht reported that Mulenga was injured during Thursday’s Europa League match between Celtic and Utrecht in Glasgow, Scotland.

Mulenga was substituted early in the first half (17th minute) due to the injury. But FAZ Communications Manager Erick Mwanza said: “We are aware of the reported injury concerning Jacob Mulenga.

It was reported by the club but we will maintain him in the squad for the 2012 Africa Cup qualifier against the Comoros on 4 September.

We still have just over two weeks before the game and we are optimistic that before that weekend of the match, Jacob will be back in action for his club and should be ready to play against the Comorians.”

“We wish him well as we do all other players because we need all of them at their best and peak for qualifiers and other competition matches.

He remains in the team and every day we shall monitor his progress update our technical staff on his progress and his availability for the game on 4th September.

We attach a lot of importance to this match and that is why we will avail the coach every player for the strongest possible Chipolopolo.”
