PRESS STATEMENT – Tuesday, July 27, 2010

Working in total dedication to advance our football and in line with our vision and objective of making the Chipolopolo one of the best in Africa and a power in world football, today we unveil the new trainer of the Zambia National Soccer Team.

Since we released Herve Renard at the end of the 2010 Orange Africa Cup of Nations finals in Angola, we embarked on an all-embracing search for a new coach of our national team.

We had a lot of applicants for the job but we think we have found the right man with a good combination of attributes that should take us higher.

Working with various stakeholders, partners and members of the football fraternity, we present to you and through you to the nation and football family an ambitious coach who is determined, proficient and capable to do the job; a coach with experience from the top level but also with a youthful hunger and ready to take the challenge of guiding the Chipolopolo to the top of the continent and the world.

Dario Bonetti is the new head trainer of the Zambia National Team.

We have offered Bonetti a two-year deal.

Bonetti will have a physical coach, a goalkeeper coach and one assistant trainer.

His technical staff includes Birindelli Alessandro who is the first assistant, Bozzini Claudio, the goalkeeper coach and Ruggierro Umberto the physical coach.

Going forward, it is our call to the football fraternity, the fans and indeed the whole country to render maximum support to the coach and his entire staff. Working together and believing and supporting the work of the technical team will be important for the Chipolopolo to achieve desired results.

While Bonetti will have a specific number of staff on the bench, his work and consultation will extend further than that because we are all stakeholders – to whom we express gratitude; from the Patron of FAZ, H.E Rupiah Banda President of the Republic of Zambia, the Minister of Sports, The Sports Council and all stakeholders.

The challenge in particular is for the rest of our local coaches at all levels to reach out and work with the new coach. In the interim, we have ensured that in this period of ‘take-over’, the Technical Director Honour Janza works with the coach closely to enable the coach have as much information and knowledge of our game as he needs.
