The Football Association of Zambia has released Zambia National Soccer Team coach Herve Renard from his contract following his expressed submission to be excused from the Chipolopolo top job, two months ahead of the expiry of his contract. Renard handed in his letter of intent to be excused as he stated his desire to pursue other professional interests elsewhere. FAZ and Renard therefore amicably agreed on the way forward.

In view of this development, the Association’s consultations and efforts to have him extend his contract have since been suspended. Renard will therefore not extend his contract with FAZ and the Chipolopolo. Physical Trainer Patrice Beaumelle will also not be staying in the job.

Under the guidance of Renard, the Chipolopolo enjoyed massive transformation and success; among the many highlights winning bronze with the Zambia Development Team at the inaugural CHAN 2009 Championship, qualifying to the Nations Cup Angola 2010 and reaching the quarter-finals for the first time in 14 years, bringing together a talented young squad for the future and setting the national team on a sound path for future success. The Football Association of Zambia will in due course announce the way forward regarding the Chipolopolo coaching job.

We further wish to advise the football community, stakeholders and indeed the whole nation that plans and programmes for the 2011 CHAN qualifiers, 2012 Nations Cup qualifiers, 2012 Olympic qualifiers and indeed medium and long term plans including the 2014 Fifa World Cup Brazil and U17 and U20 qualifiers remain intact and will in no way be affected by the departure of coach Herve Renard.

FAZ further wishes Renard and Beaumelle the best of luck in their future work and other endeavours. The Executive Committee will soon meet to decide on the coaching job for the Chipolopolo.
