Chipolopolo skipper Chris Katongo said the Zambia national team will break the barrier that has prevented successive Chipolopolo squads from reaching the quarterfinals of the Orange Africa Cup of Nations since the side, captained by now FAZ president Kalusha Bwalya, minted bronze after finishing third at South Africa in 1996.
Katongo told fazfootball.com that they know what is at stake and are ready for the challenge that Gabon will bring.
“We know what we have to do. We know that it’s been 13 years since the team managed to go the quarterfinals and semifinals.
For this tournament we have to break that barrier against Gabon and I know that we will work hard to achieve it.
We are not concerned about Gabon and whatever results they recorded, our job is to win and that’s it,” the German-based midfielder said.
