KALABA LEADS ZAMBIA TO VICTORY OVER YEMEN - Tuesday, September 21, 2010
Yemen 0-1 Zambia

Rainford Kalaba struck a 13th minute sensational as the Zambia national soccer team comprising only Zambian Super League players cruised to a precious 1-0 win over hosts Yemen in an international match Saturday in Sanaa.

In a match both teams were using to prepare for forthcoming championships and sanctioned to count towards the FIFA/Coca cola rankings, the Zambians enjoyed a lot of possession as Dario Bonetti assed his local players further. Yemen is preparing for the Gulf Cup while Zambia is preparing for 2012 Orange Africa Cup qualifier against Libya and the Cosafa Senior challenge in November.

The Zambia national team returned home Monday.

Chipolopolo shape up in Italy

Seeking to consolidate the early leadership of Group C on the road to the 2012 Africa Cup finals, the Zambia National Soccer Team will set up a training camp in southern Italy to prepare for the October 8 qualifier against Libya. The Chipolopolo play away in Tripoli in the second round of qualifiers of the 2012 Gabon/Equatorial Guinea Orange Africa Cup of Nations qualification race.

Coach Dario Bonetti has indicated that he will call on his large foreign legion of players for the clash against the North Africans.

Prominent among players to make a return to the squad is FC Utrecht top striker Jacob Mulenga who has been out for nearly a month after getting injured in his club’s Europa League clash against Glasgow Celtic last month. The team will set the camp on October 2.

The full squad will be announced over the coming weeks. In the opening round games, the Chipolopolo thrashed Comoros 4-0 at Nkoloma Stadium in Lusaka while Mozambique and Libya drew 0-0 at the Macha Stadium in Maputo.
