FAZ, SUPERSPORT LAUNCH OB VAN - Tuesday, April 20, 2010
The Football Association of Zambia (FAZ) and SuperSport International last Saturday launched the new US $2.5million Outside Broadcasting (OB) van with SuperSport Head of Africa Gary Rathbone asserting proficient FAZ leadership had inspired them to invest in Zambia.

Rathbone said SuperSport was in Zambia “for the long haul”.

He said the company’s investment was also founded in what he called the bright future of Zambian football. “There’s no reason why we cannot change the face of Zambian football together.

The country has what it takes to develop further and with the leadership at the helm, there is no limit. The Zambian league is one of the most competitive in Africa and is poised for growth and we’re delighted to be a part of it,” Rathbone said.

FAZ chief Kalusha said Zambian football was set for growth. He called on every Zambian to take pride in the ceremony which marked a milestone for the game in the country.

“I am pleased that we have all turned out today to be part of this exciting development for Zambian football. On my own behalf and on behalf of FAZ and the Zambian football community, this is a gratifying moment because it marks a milestone – a time when we turn another page in our quest to take our football to the highest levels locally, regionally, on the continent and indeed the world,” Kalusha said adding “We would not be where we are today in football live broadcast and investment in our clubs if SuperSport did not believe in our work; we would not be here without their investment in our football; indeed we would not be where we are without your contribution to a sport you love so much. Lets us continue moving together and support our teams and show the rest of Africa that we are among the very best in Africa.”

The van was officially unveiled by Deputy Sports Minister Maynard Misapa who applauded FAZ and SuperSport for setting a new trend in sports development in the country.

The ceremony was attended by FAZ officials, representatives from SuperSport, fans, club officials and government officials.

Dear partners, dear colleagues

I am pleased that we have all turned out today to be part of this exciting development for Zambian football. On my own behalf and on behalf of FAZ and the Zambian football community, this is a gratifying moment because it marks a milestone – a time when we turn another page in our quest to take our football to the highest levels locally, regionally, on the continent and indeed the world.

Dear friends, over the last few years, the Football Association of Zambia has been working very hard with different partners to raise levels of our game. And in this time, SuperSport has been a major partner. They have taken our football to the rest of Africa and the world.

Just yesterday, we were sharing in this success as we reflected on the last two years of the FAZ/SuperSport partnership.

And today, the rest of the country witnesses this partnership and the cementing thereof.

The challenge is for us to guard and protect these undertakings; safeguard the equipment and this van because it is a critical component of our football.

By this undertaking, SuperSport is affirming its desire to stay long term with Zambian football. This brings with it a new challenge. And that is to continuously work hard to ensure that we continue to score successes.

We would not be where we are today in football live broadcast and investment in our clubs if SuperSport did not believe in our work; we would not be here without their investment in our football; indeed we would not be where we are without your contribution to a sport you love so much. Lets us continue moving together and support our teams and show the rest of Africa that we are among the very best in Africa.

In conclusion Hon,. Deputy Minister, Ladies and Gentlemen, let us all take pride in the achievements our game has continued to score over the years. Like I have stated, we need to continue embracing professionalism in everything we do because that is a way to succeed.

I’m pleased to invite the Deputy Sports Minister to give us his remarks and officially launch the van.

Hon Deputy Minister, ladies and gentlemen, I thank you for your attention.

God bless you all.
