Zambia then lost to Costa Rica 1-0 before dumping out Germany in a thrilling 4-3 result and fell to Italy 3-2 after having put up a gallant fight.
It was the first time Zambia was playing in the quarterfinals of the FIFA U-20 World Cup.
The team has been on a roller coaster ride from the time they won the Cosafa Cup in December 2016 and the lifted the Africa Cup.
