National team players summoned for the June 4 international friendly match against Gabon got down to work this morning at Woodlands Stadium.
Coach Wedson Nyirenda has summoned 23 players for the match that will be used to prepare for the June 10 Africa Cup of Nations qualifier against Mozambique in Ndola.
Seventeen players reported for the morning session with players from clubs that had engagements on Sunday being awaited.
Team manager Chris Chibuye told Fazfootball.com that players from Nkana, Buildocn and Green Eagles were expected to join the team later in the afternoon (Monday)
“The coach has named the 23 players for the game against Gabon and this morning we had 17 in training,” Chibuye said.
“We are only waiting for players from Nkana who were playing in Nakonde on Saturday and could not be here on time because of the distance. Apart from those only Jonas Sakuwaha (Buildcon) and Mwila Phiri are absent.”
The team will fly straight to Ndola from Libreville where they will set up camp for the Mozambique match.
