Daka targets maximum points against Iran

Zambia U20 forward Patson Daka says the team will be aiming for maximum points against Iran in the two sides’ Group C clash on Wednesday.

Daka, who has been handed a clean bill of health by the medics after having been stretchered off in Zambia’s 2-1 win over Portugal on Sunday, is buoyant ahead of his team’s second match.

A win will take Zambia into the second round of the competition but will face an Iran side that also had a bright start having edged Costa Rica 1-0 to take second place.

The 2017 UEFA Youth League winner with FC Red Bull Salzburg told that team honours should precede individual accolades as the team fights for world cup glory.

The Kafue Celtic product said that Zambia was aiming to qualify to the second round with a game to spare.

“I am not very sure (about Iran), we will just work on our tactics and what we want to achieve, and we do not have to think too much about how they play. We have to stick to our game. They have to dance to our tune,” said the 19-year-old.

Daka said his aim was to help the team meet its targets at the tournament.

The 2017 Africa Cup of Nations Player of the Tournament contributed four goals to the continental victory and is key to Chambeshi’s aspirations for world cup glory.

Zambia’s match against Iran kicks off at 09:45 hours Zambian time with pay television SuperSport beaming the match live.

Chambeshi’s side top Group C alongside Iran who are only in second place having won with a narrower margin.
