Chiyangi looks to new players for better performance

Nkana football club coach Aggrey Chiyangi believes the new players added to the squad will make the team better in the second half of the 2015 MTN FAZ Super League season.

Five new faces were included in the starting line up for the 1 – 1 draw at Red Arrows on Wednesday, the most notable being Joseph Mudonda and Jacob Keli.

Others were Emmanuel Musekwa, Richard Kasonde and Walter Bwalya.

“Joseph Musonda is a very good player and the advantage of having him in the team is that he is very disciplined.

“He has got massive experience and we want him to help in building other players.

“He is a leader within the team, it only helps the team when there are more leaders. That is why we brought Joseph to the team.

“And today he did not disappoint with his performance. We hope to get more out of him in the next matches,” Chiyangi said.

Stanley Nshimbi gave Red Arrows the lead in the 82nd minute but Simon Bwalya equalised for the visitors three minutes later for the two sides to share the spoils.

“We want to do better in the second round, the expectations are high and we all know what we want, so it will be an interesting game,” Chiyangi said before the match.

After the match Chiyangi remained upbeat.

“I am very happy with the players. They performed very well and if you look at the game, I think a draw was a fair result even though we had more chances of scoring.

“What is important is that the players were hitting the target but the Red Arrows goalkeeper was good. I can’t blame my players for failing to score more goals.

“That’s why I said you will see a better Nkana in the second half. I think this is just the beginning; we are still working on the team. By the team we play four or give games it will be different.

“Our target for now is to bring the team out of the relegation zone to somewhere safer. Then we can build from there for next season,” he said.

Nkana stayed in 12th place with 18 points, a point adrift of Red Arrows who are in 8th position.

Nkana’s next fixture is at home to Konkola Blades while Arrows have a date with Nchanga Rangers in Chingola.
