Zesco and Power back to winning ways

After two games without a win, Power Dynamos returned to winning ways, moving into second position, as they defeated Nkwazi 3 – 1 in a rescheduled week 10 fixture played at Arthur Davies Stadium on Wednesday.

Two goals in either half from Jimmy Ndhlovu and another from Kennedy Mudenda helped Power Dynamos to move to 24 points, four adrift of leaders Zanaco.

The result meant that Nkwazi who had occupied second place before Wednesday, dropped into fourth position with 22 points.

In another rescheduled Week 10 fixture at Levy Mwanawasa Stadium, Zesco United laboured to a 2 – 1 victory over ten-man Nchanga Rangers as they came from a goal down to win 2 -1 thanks to goals from Mwape Mwelwa and Winston Kalengo.

Nchanga Rangers defender Chongo Chirwa was sent off in stoppage time for retaliation.

Bwalya Kasonde scored the fastest goal this season when he found the back on 49 seconds to give the visitors an early lead but parity was restored in the 22nd minute when Mwelwa equalised. Kalengo scored the winner ten minutes from time.

The victory pushed Zesco United into third position with 23 points from eleven matches. The champions have three games in hand against Power Dynamos, Zanaco and Green Eagles.

The loss halted a two match streak without defeat for Rangers who before Wednesday had registered a win and a draw against Mufulira Wanderers and Power Dynamos respectively. The Chingola based outfit is in 14th position with 12 points.

In Mazabuka, Red Arrows had a 40th minute goal by Festus Mbewe disallowed as they played out a goalless draw at bottom team Nakambala Leopards.
