Chikwanda delighted with draw

Nkwazi Football Club head coach Elijah Chikwanda was delighted to see his side move back into second position on the MTN FAZ Super League standings following a goalless draw at Green Buffaloes on Sunday.

The Police – sponsored outfit is six points behind leaders Zanaco and is level on 22 points with third placed Forest Rangers who had 24 hours earlier moved into second position.

Chikwanda however bemoaned in a post match interview with that two of his key players had to be replaced due to injuries in the early exchanges of the match.

Chipungu Musukuma and Kennedy Lungu limped off with injuries in the first half.

“We were disturbed by the two injuries; they actually disturbed our game plan and we had to go into our Plan B,” Chikwanda said.

Chikwanda insisted that despite the setback his men put up a good fight.

“Overall, the boys put up a good performance. The boys fought well, they were trying to get a goal but it did not just come our way.

“The way we are playing puts us in contention for the league. We are now in a competition and we have to defend our position.

“We are playing our next game against Power Dynamos and we are looking forward to a win against them.”

Nkwazi travel to Power Dynamos to play their rescheduled Week 10 fixture on Wednesday, June 24.
