Bilton targets Barclays Cup spot

Green Buffaloes coach Bilton Musonda is targeting a Barclays Cup spot as the first half of the 2015 MTN FAZ Super League draws to an end.

Musonda’s team in eighth with 20 points is 8 points behind league leaders Zanaco but only two points adrift of Nkwazi and Forest Rangers in second and third respectively.

Following a goalless draw at home to Nkwazi on Sunday, Buffaloes are separated by a single point from Power Dynamos (4th), Lusaka Dynamos (5th) and Mufulira Wanderers (6th) while it is on goal difference that they are behind Zesco United in seventh.

The top ranked six teams on the Super League standings as at week 15 qualify for the Barclays Cup quarter-finals scheduled for September.

“We have performed well so far. It unfortunate that we have drawn again today. I think this is our third draw in a row and it’s not good for the team.

“But we have collected one point which is not bad. It still puts us in the race for a top six place. If we collect maximum points in our last game I think we will be in the top six,” he said.

Green Buffaloes play a derby against National Assembly with whom they share Woodlands Stadium in their week 15 fixture.
