Lwandamina takes over as Zambia coach

Zesco United coach George Lwandamina has been appointed as interim coach of the Zambia national football team replacing Honour Janza who reverts to his position as Football Association of Zambia Technical Director.

The development was revealed to on Monday by Football Association of Zambia Executive Committee Member Happie Munkondya who also chairs the Association’s Technical Committee.

“The Football Association of Zambia has made a change to the technical team of the national team with immediate effect; Honour Janza has reverted to his position as Technical Director and his position we have appointed Mr George Lwandamina,” Munkondya said.

“Currently Mr Lwandamina is coach of Zesco United and he will be deputised by Mr Fighton Simukonda.The other two assistants Mr Davies Phiri and Mr Chintu Kampamba are still with the national team.”

Lwandamina has since been introduced to some national team players whom he met as they arrived at Simon Mwansa Kapwepwe International Airport from a friendly match against Ethiopia.

Lwandamina’s first training session with the team will be at Arthur Davies Stadium on Tuesday.
