Nchanga Rangers’ poor start to season continues

Nchanga Rangers’ poor start to the season continued with a 3 – 1 defeat at Green Eagles in a week 12 fixture played at Independence Stadium in Choma on Saturday.

Fighton Simukonda’s men gave away a 12th minute lead which they had taken through Malama Chisopa while the hosts got their goals through Mwila Phiri and Spencer Sautu who scored a brace.

Nchanga’s only win this season came in the season opener when they defeated Forest Rangers 2 – 0 on March 14. They have since recorded five draws and five losses and have a game in hand against Zesco United.

The defeat meant that the Chingola based outfit dropped into fifteenth position with eight points on goal difference from Nakambala Leopards who crop the bottom of the standings.

The victory halted an eight match winless streak for Green Eagles who now have thirteen points.

At Woodlands Stadium, Napsa Stars handed Aggrey Chiyangi his first defeat in only his second match in charge of Nkana thanks to a seventeenth goal by Brian Lubaba.

The victory was Napsa Stars’ third this season and it took them off the bottom of the table into thirteenth while Nkana dropped from seventh into eighth position, level on sixteen points with Lusaka Dynamos (7th) and Forest Rangers (9th).

Elsewhere, Lusaka Dynamos came from behind to defeat Konkola Blades 2 -1 thanks to goals by seventeen year old sensation Conlyde Luchanga and Suzyo Mwale who scored after Moses Phiri had given the visitors an early lead in thr first half.

At Dola Hill, it was Mundia Makokwa who found the back of the net at the stroke of half time to score the only goal of the match, helping Forest Rangers collect maximum points against National Assembly.

At Sunset Stadium, Zanaco could only play out a 1-1 thanks to Moses Phiri’s 34th minute equaliser which cancelled out Stewart Chikandiwa’s 17th minute opener.

Green Buffaloes and Red Arrows also played out a 1 – 1 draw with Friday Samu and Festus Mbewe scoring for either team respectively.

In Mazabuka, the match between Mufulira Wanderers and Nakambala finished goalless while te week’s top of the match between Power Dynamos and Zesco United was postponed to a later date.
