POWER Dynamos beat Japan Actuel of Madagascar 5-1 away in the sides' 2012 Orange CAF Champions League preliminary round, first leg match to almost guarantee their passage to the first round.
The Arthur Davies side took a 1-nil lead through midfielder Mukuka Mulenga in the 15th minute after a neat interchange of passes with Captain Joseph Sitali during a first half Power that dominated their hosts.
Coach Fordson Kabole later rested striker Graven Chitalu who he signed from Konkola Blades after he wasted numerous chances in the first half and brought on two-goal hero Felix Nyaende in the 55th minute.
Actuel on the other hand were an improved side after the break and forced Joshua Titima to save two close range shots from Yvon Njilamanana and Mario Bakari in the 48th and 51st minutes respectively.
But Power continued to put pressure on Actuel and stretched their lead in the 60th minute when Mulenga completed his brace from a Kennedy Mudenda cross.
This is after Actuel goalkeeper Kandy Rambelomasina spilt Mulenga's initial effort that the Power midfielder finished on the rebound.
Simon Bwalya made it 3-nil with a cheeky backheel five minutes later, courtesy of an assist from some neat buildup from Sitali and Nyaende as Power took control of the game.
Nyaende's arrival on the scene paid off when the junior international striker made it 4-0 after a solo run from the centre circle in the 71th minute.
However, Actuel pulled one back almost immediately through Bakari after some poor marking by Power's defenders.
Nyaende completed his brace and Power's good day away from home after finishing off an delivery from midfielder Emmanuel Chimpinde.
Power will host Actuel on March 3 at Arthur Davies Stadium in what is expected to be a formality second leg ahead of their prospective first round meeting against TP Mazembe on March 24.
Four-time African champions TP Mazembe are on bye from the preliminary stage of this year's Champions League.
