Zesco breeze into quarters...as Zanaco Caf dream ends

Zesco United confirmed its quarter final place in the CAF Confederation Cup place after the Confederation of African Football awarded them three points and a 3-0 margin following the suspension of Al Hilal El Obeid.

Al Hilal El Obeid suffered as a result of the Sudanese Football Association being suspended by FIFA.

The SFA has been suspended following allegations of government interference that FIFA does not tolerate.

Zesco was due to play Al Hilal today but will walk into the quarterfinals thanks to CAF’s decision.

The 2016 CAF Champions League semi finalists will now face South African side Supersport United in the quarterfinals.

Meanwhile Zanaco’s CAF Champions League dream ended at the hands of Wydad Casablanca who beat them 1-0.

Zanaco needed to avoid defeat to qualify to the quarterfinals but Achraf Bencharki stabbed home in the 68th minute to end the bankers’ dream.
